Teensey Capelet - Revisited

My wonderfully beautiful friend Jen sent me a pic of her wearing (modeling) my Christmas gift! You can see the flower with the little sparkly charms I sewed on which I didn't capture in my post about it back in January. Hmmm, I wonder how it looks on René...

Some additions

Now that Hazel is sleeping a tad longer during the day and going down for a lot longer at night (I'm sure I just jinxed myself), I've been able to peruse the internets for crochet sites and patterns. I'm adding a new link to Sites I Frequent called the Daily Crocheter. It's got free patterns, talks about the best yarn for crocheting and a list of local yarn shops in the United States!

I also added two new patterns to my queue in Ravelry. This cute little baby sweater and this skirt. Obviously the baby sweater is for Hazel and the skirt will be for me but probably a little shorter. I'm into the skirt over the jeans look. I'm also thinking of making this one finally, it's kinda like a hip cozy of sorts. If all goes well, I'll probably be making a bunch with all the super sweet yarn that Gretchen spun for me!

Crochet Flashback #5/Christmas in July!

Well, it's that time of year again. The days are getting shorter, the temperature is in the eighties and nineties, the stores are putting their summer items on clearance... Yes, it's Christmas in July time! And in honor of this giving season, I'm posting some Christmas crocheted doilies. These ones are not as refined as the others that I posted back in the day but still kitschy cool. As with most of the crochet flashbacks, these were made by my late grandma Polifroni. Just some simple stitches in the round and a cute ruffle of triple crochets.

New book

I picked up Knit Aid by Vickie Howell pre-pregnancy. I've been flipping through and have got a renewed vigor for learning how to knit. She is one enthusiastic knit chick. I should be sleeping when Hazel sleeps (ha!) but knitting may win out here. I should also be working on my granny square blanket too. Ah, so many interests; so little time! Did I mention I'm also learning some ASL to communicate with Hazel before the little doll can start talking? No wonder I have dark circles under my eyes...

Something for meh!

Amid all the baby clothes, handmades for Hazel, and burp clothes, my spinster friend Gretchen included a little something for me in her baby shower gift. I am super excited about this yarn and I can't wait to use it. For what? I don't know, but something cool and funky! Perhaps I'll knit (yes, I said knit) a scarf for me..or the baby.
Love the colors! Thanks Gretchen!!!

Handmades for Hazel #9

The handmade gifts just keep rolling in for Hazel (not that I am complaining!). This one is a knit hoodie made for Hazel by one of the mothers of Michael's co-workers at school.
I like the colors; it reminds me of an outfit I had back in the day. I was happy to see that there is a zipper in the back of the hoodie which will definitely make it easier to slip on and off Hazel's cute head.
Here's a close up of the sleeve. I also like how the stitches poke out; it gives the sweater a little more texture I think.

As for what I'm making right now.... still slaving away on the Granny Square afghan but I'm about 15 rows away from being finished. I've been doing a couple of rows daily whereas if you were checking up on me three weeks ago, I was totally slacking. It's a good thing it's going to be a Christmas gift!
