More Sacs

Reusable grocery bag is finished!  Crocheted it will Lily Sugar 'N Creme light blue cotton yarn.
A close up of the handle.  I made more rows than the green one I made before.
The bag may look small but the cotton gives it a good stretch that makes lugging fruits and veggies easy.

Stop and go

Currently, I am waiting for yarn to come in from Amazon to finish my stash baskets.  I'm so sick of the yarn selection at Michael's and Joann's but the local yarn stores are too expensive!  Alas, what's a hooker to do?  While waiting for the yarn, I have started my reusable grocery bag.  I am super excited.  The blue cotton yarn is looking to be a good choice!  I know, I know... you are all on the edge of your seats!

Zut!

Zut! = darn it! (as the French would say)

I was happily crocheting along and totally trusting my pattern which told me I would only need one skein of Lily Sugar N Creme sage colored yarn when not even half way through, I realized I needed two, possibly three. Time to search the internet. Hope I can find something!

Raving about Ravelry

So my invitation to Ravelry got accepted today!  In case you don't know, it's a pretty large online community of knitters and crocheters where you can organize almost anything that has to do with your craft.  I can't wait to get started but alas I have hardly any time to do anything lately.  I long for the summer days where I can start my crochet everyday schedule.

Currently on deck to be posted:
  • Another market bag
  • Stash basket
I usually don't have two projects going on at the same time but there's so much I want to make that I may as well go that route.

Bag Lady

I decided it was time to whip up a bag because I haven't made a crocheted bag.  Truth be told, I think they stretch too much even when they are meant not to stretch.  Anywho, I knew what I was getting into when I made this market bag.  You can see that my bag was able to hold a French Dictionary, a mini Italian dictionary and a map of Rome quite comfortably.  As of late, I've been using it as a lunch bag when I forget my usual one at home.

As you can see the bag is pretty small.  I didn't really follow the pattern to a tee as I like to improvise as I go along sometimes.  But, I would like to give props out to a fellow blogger and crocheter named Cassie.  She posted this pattern and I have the link for you if you're feeling crafty or crochety!

I used Lily Sugar 'n Cream cotton yarn in the color of sage green (left over from my Frog Prince) and green twists.  So cool!  I may need to go back and get more twisted colors.  I also plan on making a bunch more for the car cuz I'm constantly forgetting our Wegman's bags at home!

Someone holla-ed!!

I got a request for a clutch!  My wonderfully beautiful sister said, "Hey I want one of those but in green!"  VoilĂ !  I had some green yarn from Bellezza Collection Cosetta.  I whipped it up in about a few hours if you don't count sleep time, work time, going out time, etc.

I did something slightly different from the original pattern though.  I really liked how the first one turned out but I wanted the edging to be more round and defined so... I just continued to single crochet all the way around the clutch.

Got a button hole but no button.  Maria is searching for a nice, big, wooden button.  I think once she finds it, the clutch will look super chic.

Here's the final product.  I'm still taking requests if you would like one!  I have green, rainbow, and blue colored yarn.

I stand corrected.

I absolutely loved the new issue of Interweave Crochet. So much, in fact, that I bought two back issues. I really enjoyed the article of the Frenchie who crochets. Her name is Julia Vaconsin and she's my new idol. Her patterns are super cool and chic, as only a Frenchie can be. Now I just have to find time to sit down and make some clothing! HA!

I was also pondering how I could possibly tie in crochet to a sabbatical leave.... hmmmm... any ideas?
