A Tranquil Comfort Shawl...

 ...for my Gram.  I used this Lion Brand pattern with Holiday Homespun yarn.

It's a pretty cozy shawl and the stitch pattern was pretty easy.  I'm not a huge fan of Homespun because it's too bouclé-ish for me to work with and it drives me nuts.  This is one of many handmade Christmas gifts that I am making this year.

Progress...

So, I finished this for another co-worker last night:

I am hiding the obnoxious logo on my tee-shirt, hence, the strange pose.

This was the Lion Brand Scalloped Cowl pattern and I used Lion Brand Jiffy yarn in dusty pink to make it.  I think there were a few errors in the pattern but I was able to figure out how to stay consistent with the stitching.  I thought this was a fun pattern and it only took one skein of yarn!  Whoohoo!

Corporate Zombie

I finished the corporate zombie the other day.  Yes, I am guilty of glueing some of the details on.  The hair was a little difficult for me to do because I didn't have the proper tools and I was too lazy to get them, so, fabric glue did the job for me.  Needlenoodles had a very good tutorial on how to attach the hair though.

Here's the head of the zombie.  I think my obsession with watching "The Office" and picturing my sister in her cubicle inspired me to get this guy done.  He also seems to be one of the easier creatures to do from the Creepy Cute Crochet book by Christen Haden.  What I really liked about the creatures in her book is the fact that they all call for Lion Brand Cotton-ease yarn - one of my many preferred choices of yarn from Lion Brand.

Currently my corporate zombie is keeping my sister company in her cubicle at work and hopefully cheering her up and making her giggle in the process.  Also, check out Needlenoodles site, she has bonus creatures that are not in her book but follow some of the templates in her book.

The hippy in me.

I tried this headband from creativeyarn and just decided that I can't quite pull this look off.  I chose to do the project with a cotton yarn and it looked like I was wearing a doily on my head.  It was a little too stiff so I think I may try this again with some left over worsted weight yarn and see how it ends up.  All was not lost though, I think this could pass for a really neat necklace.  Again, I am not the one to pull this off so I may have to pass it on to a fashionista or artsy type friend of mine.

Wrists

 I made these wrist warmers for a co-worker for Christmas.  Since I'm not full-time this year (darn you NYS budget) I decided that this would be the year to craft most of the gifts I'm giving.

These are hand warmers from creativeyarns' pattern here and from her blog.  I used a mohair blend from Patons Nuance in the colorway of night life.  I decided to follow the pattern exactly (minus the flower) this time around and was very pleased with the results.

I'm also trying to start this little guy for my sister but every time I start, I can't seem to get past the 4th round.  My tension is too tight, or the needle is too small, or the yarn just isn't sliding off nice and easy.  Because of all that jazz, my wrists are a little sore and I'm feeling a little bummed about not being able to loosen up and take it easy.  I'm going to try again one more time and if it doesn't go to my liking, I will move up a hook and see where that takes me.

eh and ohhh!

I was hanging out on Ravelry just a few moments ago and threw all caution and common sense to the wind and added a gabillion more projects to my queue.  What is wrong with me?  Like I have time?!  Ah, but perhaps it will keep me motivated...

In other news, I joined the 4th Lion Brand swap and got my partner today!  I was pumped that I was paired with someone so awesome.  I shall make this swap super special.
