Crochet Flashback #3

I found some more holiday crochet goodies that my grandma whipped up at some point. Yeah, I know doilies are so old farty but you can't deny some super talent by looking at these. I put them out every Christmas to represent the past craftiness of my Grandma Polifroni.
I'm not sure if I'm at the point where I would have the patience to crochet something like this considering that I had to put a scalloped cowl on hold because my shells weren't lining up correctly.
I used to have a nice green doily from Grandma Polifroni but for some reason I can't find it anywhere and I've been looking for about two years. It was made almost like the one above. I can't imagine the patience, time and effort that has gone into something like this. The detail is incredible and the hook size must've been tiny!

Candy Scarf

My own creation made with three types of yarn in my stash that I was dying to get rid of. The pink and the purple are Lion Brand Jiffy yarn. I made those cute little capelets for Christmas out of this yarn. The third yarn was a Joann Fabric purchase. The tag is long gone but I think it was named Cosetta yarn in a dark multi color. I made a big button-like opening to push the other end of the scarf through.
I thought the colors looked yummy together hence the name of Candy Scarf. I will try to write down the pattern in case someone, somewhere out there wants to make this too.
The finished product looks pretty cute and Michael, the color genius, thought that all colors worked together well and was a good combination.

5/5 and I'm spent!

And just like that I completed my New Year's Resolution! This is Hazel's bunny blanket made out of Lion Brand Recycled Cotton Yarn in the color of sage.
I wish it was bigger which seemed to be everyone's complaint about this particular pattern on Ravelry. I was going to be ambitious and try to adjust the pattern for a size bigger but then immediately lost the ambition to do so. At the very least it's super cute! If you're paying attention this is the third bunny that I have crocheted. I must have this subconscious need to crochet bunny items.

4/5

Made a little travel blanket for Hazel with about 8 skeins of Caron Simply Soft Baby yarn. It's got little flecks of color in the yarn to give it a little pizzazz. This yarn was another dollar store purchase made a while back.
Oops! Don't watch t.v. and try to keep a straight edge while double crocheting. Ah well.
This looks like a very spring-like blanket. My mom thought this was the softest yarn I've ever made something in! The next project is another blanket which will finish out my new year's resolution for baby Hazel. Even then, I am planning on making her a christening blanket after the next project. I'll be in baby blanket mode for quite a while.

3/5

The bib project is done! I made 6 bibs and 3 matching wash cloths. All of these were made with cotton Sugar 'n' Creme Lily yarn and oh yes the word "hot" proceeded the color on all the tags.
Not perfect but still useful.
Purchased these buttons at the Dollar Tree. Got about 8 big buttons like this for a buck. Not a bad deal.
I decided to crochet a border around all the bibs in a color that kinda clashed. I'm especially please with this color combo. These two just happened upon each other and I liked the look of them together.
I improvised this pattern from here and a gadzillion single crochets later, I have used up all the Lily cotton yarn in my stash and made a noticeable dent in my yarn collection.
